Philipp Neumann Dipl.Ing (FH) has taken over the Sales management of the Measuring instruments of LAUDA Scientific GmbH, a subsidiary of LAUDA DR. R. WOBSER GMBH & CO. KG since the 1st April 2016. He replaces the long-term Sales manager, Dr. Armin Hofmann, who has since taken retirement.

Philipp Neumann was employed by LAUDA DR. R. WOBSER GMBH & CO. KG as Sales manager for Asia/Middle East from 2009, and was primarily responsible for the LAUDA Constant temperature equipment. He moved to the subsidiary in August last year, in order to work hand-in-hand with Dr. Hofmann during the transition period.
LAUDA Scientific develops, manufactures and distributes devices for determining the viscosity, surface tension and interfacial tension of polymer solutions, oils and tensides. For example, the Duo.Visc double Ubbelohde viscometer can be used to carry out two independent viscosity measurements in separately controlled thermostat vessels, with a very small footprint and thermally insulated baths, or the boundary stress and surface tension can be determined on-site without the need for a computer using the TD4 automatic tensiometer.
Restructuring of the international sales network and the development of new markets will enable LAUDA Scientific GmbH to meet the future challenges of a global market and to support its customers in satisfying the ever-growing demands.

There were two occasions for particular enjoyment at LAUDA in just one week. After the company was able to celebrate its 60-year existence with the entire staff on March 1, 2016, a groundbreaking ceremony followed two days later for a new administration building with offices and conference rooms.

The new construction expands on the existing administrative wing by adding on to the production hall which was newly built in 2013. "The groundbreaking and expansion must be seen in the context of our own site development program "STEP", explained President & CEO Dr. Gunther Wobser and COO Dr. Marc Stricker on the occasion of the official groundbreaking ceremony attended by a large number of invited guests, including Mayor Thomas Maertens, Architect Klaus Schreiner, the Managing Directors of the Faul und Bethäuser construction company, Herbert Bethäuser and Norbert Groß, Elmar Löffler, Regional Director of Sparkasse Tauberfranken, and LAUDA Advisor and Shareholder Dr. Gerhard Wobser and Shareholder Christine Koschker.
LAUDA has been using "STEP" to gradually modernize from the inside out for around ten years already. This has included such things as a reorganization of the logistics and production processes of high-quality devices and systems to enable the company to remain a world market leader at optimal costs in the future. As a first step, a newly built production hall for heating and cooling systems was officially opened in September, 2008. Following the strengthening of pre-existing areas, particularly the premises of the former powder coating system, the next step was the construction of a new logistics center and the new "B 11" production hall, including a connecting structure between them, completed from December 2011 to December 2013 on a surface area totaling around 2800 square meters.
"We have considered again and again just how boldly we should build", continues Dr. Gunther Wobser. More than ten million euros were invested in the course of a decade for the aforementioned "STEP" actions. The company is increasingly facing cramped conditions with the future new construction of offices and meeting and seminar rooms. "Innovative ideas and creativity require a pleasant and suitable atmosphere", explains the President & CEO with confidence. In addition to this, a laboratory is being set up in the building to enable such activities as the presentation of current new developments and innovations to customers. The new construction project also completed the final "STEP" action. In summary, Dr. Gunther Wobser emphasizes "With our development program in the past ten years, we have already set the pace for a continuing modern, efficient, and sustainable company site in Lauda-Königshofen."
According to Dr. Gunther Wobser in consultation with the architect and the contracted construction company, the architecturally attractive new construction with two building units on the roof of production hall "B11" is set for completion by September 2016. "Just in time for the official large celebration of our 60-year company anniversary in mid September and for our Open House for the public in October", pointed out the President & CEO with optimism, especially since the planning by Architect Schreiner has already been completed and the required building permits from the city of Lauda-Königshofen obtained. At the same time, Dr. Gunther Wobser thanked all of the players of participating companies, the city, and the company shareholders for their excellent and efficient collaboration.
"When LAUDA builds, this is a very important event for the city of Lauda-Königshofen", states Mayor Thomas Maertens with pleasure. "Those who invest so boldly demonstrate their confidence in the future", additionally emphasizes the Mayor. Concurring with Dr. Gunther Wobser, he also pointed out that the time for building investments is very favorable due to the continuing low interest rates. The fact that the Heilbronn-Franconia region is among the particularly dynamic and successful regions in Baden-Württemberg, can be particularly attributed to the many growing mid-sized companies and world market leaders such as Lauda. Powerful bath thermostats for precise internal temperature control from -100 to 250 °C and efficient circulation thermostats for dynamic heating and cooling of external applications from -45 to 250 °C underscore the orientation of the LAUDA PRO product line to a wide variety of applications. Three high-temperature and six low-temperature thermostats with different bath volumes of 10, 20 and 30 liters are available for internal temperature control. All devices guarantee the highest level of temperature stability and homogeneity. Five available languages (English, German, French, Spanish and Italian) and clear menu guidance enable the intuitive and confident operation of the Base control unit. The functionality of a second model developed by LAUDA, the Command Touch operating unit, is even more user-friendly and comprehensive. The Command Touch model is equipped with a large and brilliant 5.7” multi-touch screen and provides the option to individually organize the menue icons. This makes it possible for the user to structure the control menu according to individual and very specific requirements. Other benefits include a zoomable graphics display and eight languages in total (the Command Touch control unit additionally offers menu guidance in Chinese, Japanese and Russian). Setpoints and actual values of key parameters are clearly displayed on the screen. Swipe and zoom features make the visualization of temperature profiles and individual parameters easy. The popular smartphone “finger touch principle” even works with lab-gloves, a special comfort appreciated by lab professionals.
Whether the Base or Command Touch model, both operating consoles are removable and provide users with flexibility in terms of device positioning and control. An optional cable length of up to 50 meters provides an extremely high degree of flexibility for the set-up of LAUDA PRO devices.

Whilst this special historical occurrence of the recurring anniversary today will be celebrated exclusively with the staff on site, there are celebrations planned for the fall including a wider circle and in a public framework.

Exactly six decades ago, Dr. Rudolf Wobser founded the measuring devices factory LAUDA DR. R. WOBSER KG in Lauda, and, in the initial years, he was able quickly to establish the company on the market, especially with innovations of new types of laboratory thermostats in a building-block system and with refrigerating thermostats with mechanical cooling. Some of the other pioneering innovations included industrial systems (1964), measuring devices (1967) and the first thermostats in the world with micro-processor technology (1982).
Based on the ever more comprehensive product range, the company changed its trading name from the founding name to the current name, LAUDA DR. R. WOBSER GMBH & CO. KG in 1989, under which additional new developments and innovations took place, along with steps to extend the available market, for example, the first circulation chiller (1994), the LAUDA Ecoline (1997) and the product category of process thermostats for processing technology at the turn of the millennium.
The company founder Dr. Rudolf Wobser died on June 17 1977 at the age of just 66 years, following a short severe illness. His two sons Karlheinz Wobser and Dr. Gerhard Wobser became personally liable partners. At the end of 2002, the long-serving Managing Director Karlheinz Wobser took retirement. Dr. Gunther Wobser was appointed as the new Managing Director, and, until 2010, he guided the family company, together with his father, Dr. Gerhard Wobser, who then took retirement after 39 years.
Particularly in the preceding years, LAUDA DR. R. WOBSER GMBH & CO. KG experienced milestones in the development of the company and its global expansion, such as the foundation of LAUDA France in Roissy near Paris in 2005. Three years later, branches were opened in Latin America, China and the USA. The Heating and cooling systems business unit also gained more space for its ongoing growth in 2008 with the new production hall and office building, corresponding to an investment of around 3 million Euros. In 2009, LAUDA presented their equipment offensive at the ACHEMA exhibition, the leading trade fair for laboratory equipment industry. All the employees from the six LAUDA foreign branches met here for the first time at the LAUDA World Meeting.
A year later, LAUDA introduced ECO refrigerating thermostats with natural refrigerants in Europe, which allow the user to make a contribution to the reduction in the greenhouse effect, within a framework of climate protection. In the same year, 2010, they were able to achieve an increase in sales of almost 40 %, and make record sales of 53 million Euros. In 2011, LAUDA acquired a Spanish manufacturer of industrial circulation chillers and continued to operate the production facility at Terrassa in Spain. In the following year LAUDA founded the next foreign company in Birmingham (England).
After a roughly two-year construction period, involving a total investment of 6.2 million Euros, a new logistics center and a new production hall was inaugurated in Lauda in 2013. A year later, the worldwide leading manufacturer of Constant temperature equipment, temperature control devices and measuring devices made an additional strategic expansion coup with the purchase of Noah Precision, a specialist developer and producer of thermoelectric Constant temperature equipment as a new subsidiary. Also in 2014, LAUDA extended its international presence by the founding of LAUDA Italia, a 100 percent subsidiary, who will take on the task of increased expansion of business in this significant European market. In the same year, LAUDA expanded their management team with Dr. Marc Stricker, who manages the Operations, Research and Development, Information Technology and Quality Management departments, and, in this year, also coordinates the international development activities.
On March 1 2015, the 100 percent subsidiary, LAUDA Scientific, took over the development, sales and service activities for LAUDA Measuring instruments. In addition to Dr. Gunther Wobser, the company is managed by Dr. Ulf Reinhardt as Managing Director. Using his expertise and research competence, alongside his long-term partnerships, the company has been extended by the incorporation of new pioneering technologies and processes - "always bearing in mind the current requirements in the laboratories and production facilities of their customers" as emphasized unanimously by Wobser and Reinhardt.

This requires excellent processes, continuous innovation and ongoing growth.
