Example in practise - Kryopac applications

Kryopac systems are special secondary circuit units for extremely low temperatures.
In the Kryopac procedure, the energy from evaporating nitrogen is used to transfer the temperature to the liquid heat carrier via an intermediate medium. This system is the first time in LAUDA’s history that an output of 200 kW at -120 °C has been realised.

On the right under "Examples" is a list of practical applications. Click on the text to see the products.

Thermostating task
Heating, cooling, freezing of reaction units for the synthesis of active ingredients in pharmaceutical production for a temperature range of -120 to 40 °C.

- Heating
Using state-of-the-art technology, 160 kW of heat from
steam, starting at the lowest temperature (-120 °C),
is transferred to the heat carrier.

- Pre-cooling
An existing cooling brine is used for pre-cooling.
The heat carrier can be cooled to any desired
temperature between 140 and -10 °C with the heat exchanger.

- Freezing
As there is no other cold source for lower temperatures,
the coldness has to be produced from liquid nitrogen (LN2).
Lower temperatures (from -10 to -120 °C) are produced in
  the patented LAUDA Kryopac process.
